At the 2005 G8 Summit in Gleneagles, G8 leaders pledged to cancel US$ 40bn in debts owed by some of the world’s poorest and most heavily indebted nations. UK Prime Minister Tony Blair declared that the 2005 G8 Summit would become known as the "100% Summit". Almost 2 years later, how far has this promise been kept? How much debt did the G8 really cancel in Gleneagles?
